작품해설

한국전통음악에서 관찰되어지는 해학과 한 그리고 신명나는 흥취를 서양오케스트라를 통해 그로테스크하게 표현하였다. 그러나 서구의 현대음악의 접근법과도 같은-한국전통음악의 제반 요소들을 재해석하여 나름의 명분있는-방법론등을 통하여 표현하기 보다는 상당한 정도로 직설적이며 사실적인 접근을 꾀하였다.

작품해설(영문)

"Festival" is grotesquely expressed in such a way that the unique qualities of Korean tradi-tional music - humor, sadness and excitement - are expressed through a Weestern orchestra.

On the other hand, instead of expressing mu-sic with a meaningful, methodological ap-proach - the same approach of modern mu-sic in the western world - through personal reinterpretations of typical Korean traditional music characteristics,

this piece takes an overly direct and realistic approach.
