사람들이 살아가는 동안, 많은 이야기들 안에서 주인공 혹은 조연이나 단역 등이 된다. 그때, 또 그때를 돌아보며 마림바와 현악기들의 소리로 그 이야기들을 노래한다.
마림바와 현악기들은 서로 다른, 혹은 같은 이야기들을 한다. 어떤 작품에 대해 그 작품에 나타난 기교, 기법, 스타일 등이 주로 언급되는 경우가 있는데, 이 작품은 그런 대상으로는 그리 적당치 않다. 연주자나 청중이 작품 속에 들어 있는 이야기를 들으며 따라가다 보면 자신의 이야기를 하고 있는 것으로 여겨질 수 있기를 바라며 <그들>과 내가 ‘함께 부르는 노래’이다.
작품해설(영문)
Each individual becomes a leading or supporting actor or an extra in the series of stories created throughout his/her lifetime. A marimba and a multitude of string instruments shed light on and sing about such stories. They sometimes tell one single story and discuss different stories at other times. Certain pieces are evaluated by the techniques and styles they require, but this piece does not fall into such a category. It aims to become a song that can fully engage and inspire both the players and audience, making them feel as if they are listening to their own stories.
