이 작품의 제목 “거 둥”에서 보여주듯, 절도 있고 힘찬 임금의 행차의 모습을 국악관현악으로 표현하였다. 조곡(suite)의 형태는 아니지만 단악장 구성안에 거둥하는 유려하고 무게있으며 절도 있는 모습을 여러 가지 각도에서 보여주고 있다. 시작되는 부분은 아주 무게감 있는 임금의 위용을, 중간부분에는 호위무사들의 번뜩이는 눈매와 날렵한 몸놀림을, 그리고 마지막부분에는 대행렬의 웅장함을 표현하였다.
As indicated in the title 'Geodung (royal procession)', kings' parades that were carried out in a powerful and ceremonial way are expressed in gugak orchestral music. Though it is a single movement, not a suite, it still describes the elegant, dignified, and yet disciplined aspects of a royal procession from multiple perspectives. The beginning, middle, and last parts describe the very majesty of the king, the gleaming eyes and nimble movements of the escorting warriors, and the grandiosity of the procession, respectively.
