I was inspired by what was described in the Bible; the rock splits open and water comes forth, running down like the river and surging like waves in the sea. The two main themes of this music are the ensembles featuring various instruments, which represent the rock, and the homophonic melodies that symbolize the flow of water. You would think that the instrumental ensembles and the homophonic melodies create a contrast, but they compliment each other and create harmony. As water in this biblical story represents the sustenance of life, I made sure that the melodies representing the gathering streams of water sound energetic and full of life.
