나의 사랑하는 부모님의 러브스토리며, 그 선율은 우리 가족의 원천이 된 ‘영혼의 노래’이다. 우여곡절이 많았던 내 아버지의 삶을 다양한 동기적 소재와 불협화음들로 표현하였고, 이 부딪힘 들은 곤고한 삶에서 어쩌면 잊고 살았을지도 몰랐던 영혼의 노래로 귀결된다.
작품해설(영문)
This piece was composed in celebration of my father's 80th birthday. He was a student at the Korean Military Academy when he had an accident and had to give up his dream. One day, he sang Spring at Hometown sorrowfully and it touched the heart of a nurse.
This is how my parents first met, and Spring at Hometown became our family's soul song. Diverse motifs and discordant chords were used to portray my father's life with many ups and downs. The many conflicts found in the piece are intended to remind all of their soul songs that may have been forgotten while struggling through everyday life.
