In 1974 the Korean National Choir premiered the piece commissioned by the Seoul Music Festival. Since then necause of the content of the poem public performance of The Day of Judgement has been banned for 17 years until the 1992 performance by Yonsei Concert Choir.
Composer chose a poem bu Rev Youngkil Chung which reveals the composer own way of accusing the political oppression of the time.
The first part out of the three parts shows admiration for Gods creation in the style of traditional western music. In the second part composer expresses the degradation of men with some of contemporary techniques like chance element and sprechstimme. The third part is the reminescence of the first.
